Saucier Farmer's Market - coming soon!
One of the first tasks that the Saucier Community Improvement Association has set itself is to instigate a Farmer's Market in Saucier. Planning is under way and there will be an announcement about it very soon.
Meantime, I thought you might like to read about what other communities in America are doing to support their own local Farmer's Market. The New Rules website has many pages scores of useful links describing how communities across America are maintaining their 'small town' feel while prospering in the 21st century. One particulary interesting page is dedicated to farmers markets.
As we develop the Saucier Farmer's Market, we may have to set rules to ensure that the market ramains within the spirit of a true farmer's market. Without them, it could turn into a flea market, which is less attractive. In Dallas, Texas, they have already encountered the need to create rules, and this page links to information about the Dallas farmer's Market.
Looking for Volunteers
As the Farmer's Market is being started, we are going to need volunteers to help. If you think you can help us by supervising the market, or publicising it, or helping prepare ground or ... well whatever is necessary to make it happen. If you would like to help at all, please contact any SCIA board member, or post a comment using the link at the bottom of this message.
